The annual Minnesota Education Association break can be a great time for families with school-age children to take a late fall vacation. On the KRFO Facebook page we have heard from folks who are going on a Disney trip, enjoying Chicago and taking in the sights of Duluth.

Not everyone can travel though. There are plenty of activities to take in around Owatonna. Here are just a few.

Little Theatre of Owatonna opens its production a "Murder Inn" Friday, October 19 with performances over two weekends. It sounds like a great story with a spook-seeking tour group being forced to spend time at a haunted inn.

The Pheasants for Hospitalized Veterans fundraising auction is Saturday, October 20 at the Owatonna VFW.

A Masquerade Ball at Pillsbury College on Saturday night will benefit Transitional Housing of Steele County.

The Steele County Blades junior hockey team opens its home schedule Friday, October 19 at 7 pm versus the Minnesota Blue Ox.

Fall colors are peaking across the region. Be sure to walk through Kaplans Woods, which was named a top-ten fall destination by Explore Minnesota.

Winter is just around the corner. So get out this fine fall weekend to enjoy some great local happenings. Tell us what you are doing over MEA break.
