The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinal softball team got contributions from their three seniors in a 5-0 win over Kenyon-Wanamingo at Alexander Park in Faribault today.  Senior right handed pitcher Tess Glenzinski allowed four hits and struck out 8 batters while walking just one on a very windy day.  Glenzinski threw 82 pitches, 61 for strikes and was 17 of 25 in first pitch strikes.  Kenyon-Wanamingo junior pitcher Emma Berquam threw well against a Cardinal team that can hit very well.  Coming into the game Bethlehem Academy had a team batting average of .349 with 8 players hitting over .300.  Berquam allowed just 7 hits over her six innings and multiple hits in just two innings.

Berquam finished with 111 pitches, 85 for strikes, struck out 8 and walked 2. The Cardinals had no errors in the game while the Knights committed 4 according to my scorebook.  The game started with an error by Kenyon-Wanamingo  when Glenzinski bunted the ball toward the pitcher just outside the pitching circle and Berquam and senior third baseman Brittney Woods hesitated to see who was going to field the ball and a throw was made wide of the first baseman.  Freshman left fielder Malia Hunt had a bunt single to score Glenzinski and at the end of the inning was stranded at third base.

Bethlehem Academy scored two more runs in the third inning.  Following a strikeout to start the inning Glenzinski bunted for a single and went to second following a bad throw to first base. She went to third on a passed ball and scored when Hunt singled.  Senior Jessica Oathoudt smacked an RBI double and was stranded at third.  Eight batters came to the plate in the inning.

The Cardinals added a pair of runs in the fifth inning.  Hunt started the inning with a bunt single and was thrown out at second following a ground ball off the bat of Oathoudt.  The senior third baseman stole second base and went to third on a wild pitch.  Senior catcher Grace Viland walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch.  Sophomore right fielder Kate Jasinski had a RBI single.

Kenyon-Wanamingo center fielder Karlie Hodgman had a single in the second and seventh innings.  Sophomore second baseman Morgyn Schaefer led the seventh inning off with a single and sophomore left fielder Kallie Bauer had a single.

Our Held Bus Service of Kenyon Knights of the game were Berquam, Schaefer and Hodgman.

Our Faribault State Farm Insurance agents Faribault players of the game were the three senior Glenzinski, Viland and Oathoudt.
