Blooming Prairie senior Madison Worke has made a verbal commitment to play basketball at Division II Winona State.

The 5-foot-10 shooting guard averaged more than 12 points per game last season, plus 4.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 blocks. The Awesome Blossoms finished as sub-section runners-up. The team also brings back Division I recruit Taylor Hagen (Northern Iowa) for the upcoming season.

Worke is a three-sport star at Blooming Prairie, also playing volleyball and softball.

Her father, John, is the basketball at Blooming Prairie:

"Madison has put a lot time, effort, and money into basketball. It sure is nice that she gets rewarded for her efforts."

"During the recruiting process we have heard time and time again that Madison's upside or ceiling is off the charts. They all love her 'stop and pop jump shot.' The coaches also like what Madison brings to the court. A 5-10 shooting guard with a 6-foot wing span allows coaches a lot of flexibility."

"Madison is a natural leader. If she doesn't display it verbally she shows it on the court with her decision-making and work ethic."

On the recruiting process, John Worke said:

"It really has been quite and experience for our family. Although stressful at times, it sure has been fun and flattering. I felt Madison has handled it all in a positive, responsible way. The learning process with this situation shows me that she is getting ready for the next chapter in her life."
