The Faribault Emeralds made it to the finals in Class 2A Jazz at the 2019 State Girls Dance Team Tournament.  The Emeralds placed 6th at Target Center.  Just making it to the finals is impressive.  There were 12 teams competing in each class at the competition.  The Big 9 Conference Champion Emeralds had two performers named to the Class 2A All-Tournament Jazz Team.  Seniors Sarah Howell and Tessa Longshore were among 12 selected for the team.

Totino-Grace of Fridley captured the title in Class 2A.  The 9th Jazz title for the E'Gals.  They placed second last year.  It was their first title since 2016 and snapped the two time defending champion Benilde-St. Margaret's of St. Louis Park reign at the top.  BSM placed second, Sartell-St. Stephen was third.  Mound-Westonka was fourth, Orono fifth and Faribault 6th in the finals.

In Class A Zumbrota-Mazeppa was second to Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd who won the first title in their history in dance competition.  Frazee was third.  Yellow Medicine East of Granite Falls was 4th, Aitkin 5th and Marshall School of Duluth 6th.

Z-M seniors named to the Class 2A All Jazz Tournament Team were senior Myfanwy Postians and junior Kalli Olson.  There is just one senior on the team.

Wayzata accomplished it's second straight Class 3A championship and 8th overall.  Edina was second.  Eastview of Apple Valley was third.  Maple Grove 4th, Prior Lake 5th and Lakeville North sixth.  Named to the Class 3A All-Tournament Jazz Team from Lakeville North were seniors Abby Ditolla and Alexis Grecco.

Seniors Elllie Hebig and Libbie Yung made the 3A Jazz All-Tournament team from Eastview of Apple Valley.

Saturday High Kick competition takes place.  The Faribault Emeralds are participating in that discipline also.  Last year they placed third.  Also participating in High Kick Class 2A is Austin.  In Class A Wabasha-Kellogg, St. Charles and Lake City represent Section 1 while the Cannon Falls Bombers come out of Section 2.

Eastview of Apple Valley, Prior Lake and Lakeville North are in the 3A competition with Wayzata hoping for a three-peat.
