The Faribault Emeralds placed third in High Kick at the 2019 State Dance Team Tournament at the Target Center in Minneapolis today.  Sartell-St. Stephen won it's third consecutive title in Class AA and was the only team to successfully defend their title in HIgh Kick.

The new champion in Class A was the Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd Shadows and Wayzata captured their first High Kick championship in Class AAA.  Twelve teams qualified for State and they perform their routines with judges choosing a final six.  Those six teams then perform again to determine the state champs.

Two Faribault seniors also made the Class AA All-Tournament team.  Taylor Prieve and Lindsey Davis.  Each of the six finalists nominate two of their dancers for the honor.

Other placements in Class AA were Totino-Grace, Fridley runner-up.  Benilde-St. Margaret's, St. Louis Park placed fourth.  Austin was 5th and Orono 6th.  Austin seniors Taige Iverson and Baylee Phillips were also named to the Class AA All-Tournament Team.

In Class A, Yellow Medicine East, Granite Falls was 2nd.  Aitkin 3rd, Lake City 4th with a tie-breaker used with Frazee 5th and Bagley 6th.

Named to the Class A All-Tournament team from Lake City were Deidre Lutjen and Lindsey Fick.

Following Wayzata in Class AAA were Lakeville North 2nd, defending champion Eastview of Apple Valley 3rd, Brainerd 4th, Chaska 5th and Maple Grove 6th.
