Owatonna took it on the chin vs #1 Mankato West 69-0 Friday night. Blooming Prairie & Triton scored wins. Medford & NRHEG lost games.

Mankato West scored on their first eight drives en route to a 69-0 win over Owatonna. The loss ended the Huskies 16 game winning streak. Five of the Scarlets scoring plays covered more than 45 yards. Mankato West out gained OHS 541-189 yards.

BIG NINE results.....Faribault 48, Austin 20.....Northfield handed Rochester Mayo their first loss 36-14.....Century 31, Rochester JM 12.....Mankato East 34, Red Wing 0.....Winona 28, Albert Lea 20.  A few of those games were called early due to lightning.

More scores...Blooming Prairie 42, St. Clair 7; Blossoms QB John Rumpza threw for 345 yards and 4 TD's, giving him 19 touchdowns on the season....Triton rushed for 381 yards in their 54-8 romp over Kenyon Wanimingo.....Maple River beat NRHEG 13-0.....Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial topped Medford 41-20.

Steele County Blades won their season opener at Ironwood, Michigan 8-1 Friday night. The same two teams play tonight at 7:30.

Saturday schedule: OHS girls soccer hosts Lakeville South at 10:00am. OHS boys face Lakeville South at 3:00. Both matches are at the Lincoln Soccer Complex. Huskies girls tennis plays at the Litchfield Tournament. Girls cross country runs at the Milaca Mega Meet.

Area volleyball on Saturday: Blooming Prairie & Medford are at the Showcase Tournament at the Volleyball Warehouse in Burnsville. NRHEG plays at Blue Earth.
