Senior Laura Ebeling grew up watching her older brother Luke play goalie for Owatonna and said, "I want to be a goalie too." She started hockey as a skater but then around U-10 indicated she wanted to go between the pipes. She says her father asked her, "Are you sure?" Laura is in her third year on the varsity and turned in a fantastic performance Wednesday night to extend her career at least through the weekend.

No. 6 seed Owatonna edged No. 3 Rochester Mayo 3-2 this week with Ebeling making 34 saves. Coach Dan Paur said, "She was huge tonight and you need your goalies playing well in the playoffs. And she was amazing tonight." OHS goes to No. 2 and top-20 ranked Lakeville South Saturday, February 10 at 7PM at Hasse Arena with coverage on KRFO AM1390 and the new KRFO app for your phone. The winner advances to the Section 1AA championship game at Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna Thursday, February 15 at 5PM.

In this interview from earlier this season, Ebeling says she still gets nervous at the start of games but says the team supports her well. She says she has learned to talk more on the ice to communicate with her teammates. With both Laura and Luke wanting to be goalies, they were fortunate to have older brother Jesse to shoot the puck at them.
