You see it so clearly at county fairs, the rows and rows of homemade wine. It's something certainly on the uptick. The University of Minnesota Extension is teaming with the Southern Minnesota Wine Grower Alliance in hosting a Vineyard and Winery Management Workshop on Saturday, March 23. Those who grow grapes or want to learn how to will learn new techniques for managing cold hardy grapes and making high quality Minnesota wine.

Hours for the workshop at Chankaska Creek Ranch and Winery in Kasota will be 9-1pm. After the tour you'll learn about pest management in the vineyard and other topics to be addressed will be bunch rot diseases and spotted wing drosophila. The day will wrap up with a tour of Chankaska's wine cellar.

Guest speakers will include UMN Extension educators, vineyard managers, winemakers and an enology specialist. The cost is $30 for SMWGA members and $35 for non-members. Pre register at the SMWGA web site.
