The Huskies improved to 3-0 in the Big Nine with a 7-1 victory over Mankato West at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna on Thursday night.

Junior defenseman Jamie Davison had a big night with two goals and an assist. Junior forward Margo Achterkirch scored twice, including a short-handed marker in the first period. OHS jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the opening frame. The Huskies outshot the Scarlets 15-7 in the first 17 minutes and 45-12 for the game. Laura Ebeling had 11 saves to get the win.

Chloe Schmidt, Maylynn Prokopec and Jenna Bogen notched Owatonna's other goals. Schmidt and Bogen also had assists, as did Grace Wolfe.

Owatonna travels to Winona for a game on Tuesday, December 6, at 7:30PM, which will be heard on KRFO AM 1390. The Winhawks are winless and giving up goals by the bushel. Owatonna's next home game is Thursday, December 8, against Albert Lea at 7PM.

Owatonna, Rochester John Marshall and Mankato East lead the Big Nine standings at 3-0. Red Wing is 2-0 after beating Northfield 3-2 on Thursday. The defending 1A champion Raiders are 0-2 in the league with their other loss coming to JM.

The Huskies face a tough stretch in early January when they play Northfield, JM and Mankato East over a six-day span with two of them on the road.
