I learned something new. Steele County 4-H offers shooting classes for youngsters. Missy Koch and Tracy Ignewzeski were guests on AM 1390's Talk of the Town.

Shooting classes have been offered a while in various 4-H clubs around Minnesota for a while. Steele County will be offering their classes for the third season starting this winter.

Youngsters will use BB guns, air files and pistols and work their way up to 22's, muzzle loaders and shotguns.

A  number of 4-H volunteers are already certified in firearms safety. They then learn about 4H policies and rules in regards to firearms. They then attend a 2 day training on safety.
BB guns and archery start in mid winter with shot guns and 22's added later closer to spring when the weather improves.

You can still join a 4-H club by going to their enrollment website.

Missy takes a look at the timeline for the shooting classes offered by Steele County 4-H.
