The University of Minnesota’s Raptor Center has released six bald eagles following their successful recovery from suspected poisoning.

Local bird enthusiast Darryl Hill told me recently that the bald eagle has made quite a comeback here in Southern Minnesota. The ban of DDT in 1972 helped get the ball rolling. Other conservation measures have really helped build back the population in these parts over just the past few years...

I heard a funny type of bird cry that wasn't familiar to me Sunday. I looked up toward the pine trees that mark the north border of our property and there they were, two bald eagles.
