Tri-Chairman Joel Holst of Steele County Relay for Life was in Friday, May 8, for Talk of the Town on KRFO AM1390 to discuss the different events leading up to the Relay for Life in July.

First of all, the Relay for Life team captain meeting will be on Tuesday, May 12, at 7PM. It will take place at Associated Church, 800 Havana Road, Owatonna. The meeting is for team captains or for anyone who would like to learn more about Relay for Life.

A team will be having a fundraising garage sale on Friday, May 29, from 8AM to 6PM and on Saturday, May 30, from 8AM to noon. The garage sale will be at 820 E Rose St., Owatonna.

On the last Sunday in May, there will be a pancake breakfast at the VFW in Owatonna from 8AM to noon benefiting the Steele County Relay for Life. The menu will include french toast. Tickets are $5 in advance and are available from committee members or from teams. Tickets will be $6 at the door.

The Relay for Life will take place on the Steele County Fairgrounds beginning at 6PM on Friday, July 17, with the luminaries being lit. There will be entertainment for all ages that includes music, movies, and silent and live auctions. It will end at 6AM on Saturday, July 18.

The money raised will go to the American Cancer Society and be invested in research and in providing free information and services to cancer patients and caregivers.
