The Grand Marshal for the 2nd Annual Faribault Winterfest Parade is city Parks and Recreation Director Paul Penansky.  He is scheduled to be the guest on our KDHL AM Minnesota program at 9:30 this morning. Penansky has been with the city for over two decades.  On AM Minnesota Wednesday Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism President Nort Johnson commented, "Paul is such an asset to this community.  He assists with a number of events around town and is always easy to work with."

Bruce Burkhartzmeyer was the first Winterfest Parade Grand Marshal for those who might not remember.  The Faribault Main Street program organizes the events for the celebration of winter.  The parade and fireworks were postponed Saturday due to the snowstorm and Johnson told us the decision was made after consulting with city officials last Saturday.

The Winterfest Parade and Fireworks will be Friday, December 14th with the fireworks being shot off at 5:30 p.m. followed by the lighted parade.  Johnson told us they wanted to reschedule as soon as possible and the fireworks company availability was the key in the decision.

Unfortunately the dance was cancelled.  Johnson told KDHL AM Minnesota listeners Wednesday the Thursday and Friday Winterfest events were a success again with lots of people in the downtown area enjoying the free wagon rides and other activities.
