Another Day and Another New Scam

Your phone goes off, it's a text message from FedEx, stating that they need you to update your delivery preferences, along with a tracking number. They even thoughtfully include a link to click on, so you can take care of it right then. But, you aren't even expecting a delivery. If you get an email or a text like that, do NOT click the link, it's just another scam. People doing anything they can to separate you from your hard-earned money.

I have seen several of my friends on my social media feed posting that they have received this type of text, or email. If you're not expecting anything, don't click the link, and even if you are expecting a package, still, don't click the link. Go to main website for the delivery company, be it FedEx, USPS, UPS, and track your packages there.

The way the scam works, you click the link, there could be malware to gain access to your device, or there is a survey you can take for "free." Note, the website with the survey looks legit, but, it is a fake one, and they will ask you for your credit card information to pay for shipping of an item, and then charge you more every month. Hence, the scam.
