Armed Robbery Reported at Rochester Home Depot
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester Police responded to the report of an armed robbery at Home Depot on Wednesday.
The incident happened around 1:50 p.m. but was not reported until over an hour later. Police say the clerk was shaken up by the incident and did not notify a supervisor right away.
She told police a man came to her checkout with several items and $600 in gift cards. She said he tried to charge his purchase but the credit card declined. When she informed the man he pulled out a small knife and told her to open the cash drawer.
She complied but did not take any cash out then closed it. The man then took the items and walked out of the store heading toward the Target store.
He’s described as black, six feet tall, 300 pounds and in his late 20’s or early 30s. Police are reviewing surveillance video in hopes of identifying the suspect. Police were told there was a recent similar incident at Home Depot in La Crosse.
