Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Rochester man has been ordered to serve a little over two years in prison for an attack on a Rochester teacher last fall.

29-year-old David Galvan, who now has an Anoka address, was sentenced this morning in Olmsted County Court to 27 months in prison for his conviction on a second-degree assault charge. Galvan entered a guilty plea to the charge in May.

He was accused of causing a non-serious puncture wound on the 24-year-old woman's back by stabbing her with scissors. The victim was walking with a group of her students from the Rochester Arts and Science Academy when the attack occurred in the neighborhood near Folwell Elementary School in southwest Rochester on October 8th.

Galvan also pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property and burglary charges in a separate case involving a break-in at a home in the same neighborhood. Flag crime, he was given a one-year prison sentence that he will serve concurrently with his sentence for the assault.
