I’ve lived in Faribault my entire life but my wife and I enjoy traveling all around Minnesota as well as the surrounding states. When I’m not at work I’m usually spending time with my grandchildren and my grown children. I enjoy going to watch the Vikings, especially at US Bank Stadium, concerts, taking my wife to various musicals and going out to eat… I really enjoy that, as my bathroom scale can attest. I love music and spend a lot of time on the weekends looking for CDs of big hair bands that I don’t currently have in my collection.

Ten Worst Cities in Minnesota
If you're a regular visitor to Facebook you've probably noticed all the posts listing the "Best City for..." usually followed by beaches, water parks, buying houses, jobs etc. Unfortunately for Faribault, I recently came across another one of these so-called well-researched lists that doesn't shine a positive light on the community...
What Are These Strange Balls in the Minnesota Woods?
If you plan on spending any time in the Ely area this summer, don't be surprised by the strange balls of branches and sticks that decorate the landscape at some of the local national forest campgrounds. It was really hard to miss them as there are several dozen of them at the honor campground that I recently stayed at...
40 Free Things on Your Birthday
I look forward to my birthday each year. Despite the fact that each year I get another year older, I still enjoy the time with my family enjoying some cake and opening a few presents.
My birthday is still a month off, but if you're celebrating a birthday soon you might want to take advantage of an interesting website I recently stumbled across called RearFront...
Get Your Boat Ready for the Parade
The Fourth of July is two weeks away, just enough time to get your plans together and start working on how you're going to decorate your boat for the upcoming Roberds Lake Club Boat Parade. Most of the boats I saw last year went with one theme or another such as patriotic, Santa, tropical, birthday, sportsman, rubber duck and more...

Water Park Fun in Waseca
A couple of weeks ago I posted a story about some of the area water parks that I thought covered most of the area pools but I was wrong. I realized my error when I was in Waseca on Sunday for a backyard barbecue. As I entered town on Highway 13 I saw the colorful awnings of some of the shade areas around the edge of the Waseca Water Park...
It’s National Chocolate Ice Cream Day
It's National Chocolate Ice Cream Day today. Does that mean we get to enjoy free chocolate ice cream all day?.. uhh, no. But you can celebrate by going out and buying a quart or gallon of that chocolate goodness and trying to eat it all in one sitting or, better yet, sharing with family and friends...
Please Secure Your Loads
Homeowners are taking advantage of this nice run of warm, dry weather to do some yard work, gardening and landscaping. I recently hauled in some rock for a little chore at my parents' house and trimmed back some branches and bushes. Both of these jobs required a truck and trailer to haul the rock in and remove the branches...
Kayak Adventures on the Mighty Mississippi
If you've ever wanted to paddle the Mississippi River in the heart of the Twin Cities, but you don't own a boat, there's a new program available called the Mississippi River Paddle Share. You can rent one- or two-person kayaks at either North Mississippi Regional Park or the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization...
