Parents are in for a busy sports season this Spring! With the onset of COVID-19, a lot of sporting events were postponed and canceled, so I'm sure the kids are eager to hit the fields and courts.

Youth 1st, a non-profit organization, promotes a united community approach to youth development through sports. The organization works to model good conduct as adults and build character in youth sports players.

On Thursday, May 13th, and Friday, May 14th, 11 am-7 pm, Youth 1st is hosting their "Baseball and Barbeque" fundraiser at Cashwise Foods in Owatonna. The proceeds go toward Youth 1st, their Team Awards, and the Parks and Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund.

The deals are ON at the barbeque! You can get a full rack of ribs for $12 or a meal deal of ribs, two sides, a cookie, and a drink for $9. Get this, if you order ten or more meals you can get free delivery from 11 am-1 pm. All you have to do is call or text (612) 968-9192 (preferably in advance if possible).

In addition, you can enter a few prize drawings. The grand prize of the event is a grill package. It includes a grill, grill tools, $50 worth of Cashwise meat, and a gift card.

Sports were a big part of my childhood. Besides my neighbors, my teammates were my first friends. Kids learn a lot of skills from the activities, such as leadership and teamwork. And it's great to know this organization is pushing kids to have exquisite character and people skills.
