Faribault Bethlehem Academy junior Krystjahn Peterson had a three stroke lead heading into the final round today of the MSHSL Class A State Golf Tournament at Pine Creek Golf Course in Becker.  After a par on the front nine it looked like Peterson might be the medalist but a five over 41 on the back nine left him one stroke short alone in second place with a 145 two day total.

Peterson shot a four under 68 Tuesday and a 5 over 77 on Wednesday.  The medalist was Sleepy Eye United senior Ben Laffen with a 144 after a 71 Tuesday and 73 Wednesday.  Laffen was also playing for a team trying to win a state title and they tied Mounds Park Academy for that championship.  Both teams had a two day total 641.  Section 1 representative Kingsland was 8th.

Peterson placed 7th at last year's meet during his sophomore season to earn All-State status and was All-State again this year with his move up byi five places over last year.

Blooming Prairie senior Jake Ressler had a tough back nine also on the final day and finished with a 181 placing him 56th out of the 85 person field.  Hayfield eighth grader Keegan Bronson was 59th with a 183.

In Class AA boys Holy Family Catholic won by three strokes over Detroit Lakes at Ridges of Sandy Creek in Jordan.  Section One champion Red Wing placed third.  The medalist also won by a stroke in Class AA with East Grand Forks senior Nate Deziel edging The Blake School senior senior Derek Hitchner 137 to 138.  Red Wing junior Cecil Belisle finished third with a 139.

Rochester Lourdes junior Luke Alexander had a 145 two day total for an All-State 6th place finish.  Lake City senior Thomas Huettl carded a 148 and 12th place finish.  Byron senior Hunter Fjerstad had a 149 total. Rochester Lourdes junior Kyle Hickey finished 18th with a 150.  Senior Carter Van Tassel of Stewartville placed 32nd with a 154

The Northfield boys participated in the Class AAA Meet as a team and finished eighth, 46 strokes in back of State Champion Maple Grove.  Maple Grove won the title by 7 strokes over St. Thomas Academy and Alexandria Area tied in second place.

Wayzata senior Tristan Neiko was the Class 3A boys medalist at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids.  Mankato East junior Walker Reyes was in second place 4 strokes back.

The Raiders top finisher was eighth grader Nathan Stevens with a 151 placing him 25th.  Lakeville South sophomore Gavin Cronkhite had a 152 and placed 33rd.  Northfield freshman Haakon Rustad tallied a two day 155 tie tie for 44th.  Lakeville South freshman John Langlois was 48th with a 156.
