The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals picked up a 3-1 win over the Owatonna Huskies in Owatonna Monday night on KDHL.

The Cardinals won the first set 25-16 thanks in large part to 10 errors by the Huskies.

The second set was an error infested one.  Bethlehem Academy had 11 miscues including 7 service errors and Owatonna with 10 errors.  Owatonna won it 28-26 with both teams having two set points before the outcome was determined.

The Cardinals won the third set 25-20 and the fourth 25-14 to finish the night.

Bethlehem Academy Head Coach Franz Boelter said after the match he was happy with their performance in the three sets they won but was not very happy about the second set.

I counted three errors in the first set for BA and 5 in the third and 4 in the fourth.

There were no service errors in the first or fourth set and just one in the third set, but the seven missed serves in the second set were experienced by six different Cardinals.

Seniors Megan Donahue and Mary Campbell, sophomore Laney Donahue and junior libero Olivia Nass were the Faribault State Farm Insurance Agents Faribault players of the match.

8th grader Ellie Cohen played well for the Cardinals also.

She was in on a couple of blocks and had four kills on the night.

Owatonna was led by Sydney Schultz with 12 klills and sophomore Alyvia Johnson had 8 kills.

Unofficially I counted 35 errors by the Huskies in the four set match and 32 kills.

Owatonna is now 6-11 and ends their regular season at home Tuesday night against the Mankato West Scarlets.

Bethlehem Academy is off until the weekend when they go to the Chaska Tournament and are in a tough pool with Class 3A top ranked Eagan and Belle Plaine.

The Cardinals are 11-11 going into this weekend's matches.
