Big Basketball Win

The top-ranked NRHEG girls basketball team played in the Breakdown Tip Off Classic again this year. The Panthers jumped out to a 20-6 lead over Mountain Iron Buhl (a state tournament team from last season). The Defending State Champ Panthers were led by Carlie Wagner's 40 points, many of the dazzling highlight reel variety. Marnie Wagner added 11 for NRHEG(2-0). The intense defensive pressure applied by the Panthers led to a steady run of break away baskets

The Panther boys also won their game Saturday night, capturing the Loyola Tournament in Mankato. The final was 70-56 over St. Peter. See their full schedule.

Owatonna's basketball teams also won games on Saturday. The boys won at Duluth East 57-40 in their season opener. The OHS girls won at Chanhassen 59-46 to improve to 5-0.
