Brantley Gilbert is paying more than lip service to his faith with his new tattoos.

The country singer posted two new pictures to Instagram on Wednesday (July 12), sharing two intricate new tattoos that speak to his Christian faith. The first picture above shows Gilbert laying on his back while a tattoo artist works on a very detailed (and quite painful-looking!) cross that covers his entire chest and abdomen, followed by a shot of the back of his left hand, which now features a calligraphy tattoo of the word "Psalm."

"Praise the Lord who is my rock. He trains my hands for war and gives my fingers skill for battle. Psalm 144:1," Gilbert writes to accompany both pictures, also giving a shoutout to the artists who worked on it.

Brantley GIlbert's Not Done With Tattoos

The singer is quite serious about both his ink and his faith. He made headlines with an enormous back tattoo celebrating the Second Amendment in May of 2015, telling Taste of Country at the time, "There's more coming."

Gilbert wants all of his new tattoos to reflect something personal about his life.

“I’m gonna leave the rest of my chest, and my right arm and really the rest of me to family,” he says, adding that he might get some new ink in honor of his marriage to Amber Cochran. “I think I got enough of the rowdy, rambunctious ink.”

The singer's new album, The Devil Don't Sleep, was inspired by Gilbert's past addiction battles and the fact that he must be ever-vigilant to avoid going down the wrong path again. He credits his faith with helping him beat his addictions.

"For sure. I’ve always been a believer first above anything else," he tells Nash Country Daily. "I feel like I’m like any other Christian. I think I’ve definitely strayed from time and time, and my relationship has not always been the best, but I think that’s always been a part of my music as well.”
