Happy Friday everyone! Guess what today is? Today is National Candy Day! Seems weird that it is not like the day after Halloween but hey it works for this year! That got me thinking though, what are the most popular candies we see across the nation, or better yet, what is each state’s favorite or most popular candy? Well, I got the answers to those questions and more statistics on candy this year.

After doing some quick research I came across an article from USA Today that goes over the most popular candies in 2022 and this really surprised me! The data was collected by candystore.com and using sales data for the time period before Halloween, the distributor determined which candy was the most popular. Here is the top ten

  1. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
  2. Skittles
  3. M&M's
  4. Starburst
  5. Hot Tamales
  6. Sour Patch Kids
  7. Hershey Kisses
  8. Snickers
  9. Tootsie Pops
  10. Candy corn

I find that Hot Tamales being above Snickers to be funny as well as Candy Corn making the top list, but hey if this is what the nation likes! Also, I can confirm, according to Wikipedia as well, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups is the number 1 seller.

Now, do you think you can guess Minnesota’s most popular candy? What about Iowa or Wisconsin? Here are the top-selling candies in each state. Click here to look at the interactive map and see every state.
