The Cannon Falls American Legion baseball team fell to Watertown 13-11 in a 9 inning thriller in Green Isle today.  They were one of the last four teams remaining in the Division II East Central Sub-State American Legion Baseball Tournament.

The Bombers won their first game over Waterville-Elysian 1-0 before falling to Norwood 8-3 last weekend.

Cannon Falls then defeated Cleveland 5-2, Kenyon-Wanamingo 8-5, Plato 7-6 before ending their season.

Holy Family beat Sibley East 7-6 this afternoon in the winner's bracket contest in Arlington.

Watertown then bested Sibley East 6-2 setting up the final showdown of the tournament 2:00 p.m. Sunday Watertown must defeat Holy Family to force a second game.

Holy Family needs one win to advance to the State Tournament next weekend in Ely, Minnesota.

There were 15 teams when the tournament began.  The runnerup in League E Plato received a first round bye.  League Champion Holy Family opened with a 12-2 victory over Goodhue in 6 innings before sending Randolph to the elimination bracket with a 7-5 win.

Medford got a second round bye in the elimination bracket before falling to Kenyon-Wanamingo 9-0.

Goodhue lost their second game 15-4 to Cleveland.

In the Southeast Minnesota Dvision II Tournament Lacrescent and Chatfield play 1:00 p.m. Sunday in St. Charles.

LaCrescent opened the Southeast Sub-State with a 10-2 win over Pine Island before Chatfield edged the Rochester Eagles 5-4.

Rochester blanked Pine Island 7-0.  LaCrescent rolled by Chatfield 9-2.  Chatfield had no problem dispatching Rochester 9-1 to set up the title contest.

LaCrescent is one win away from the State Tournament Division II Tournament next weekend.

Breckenridge punched their ticket to state representing Northwest Sub-State for the first qualification.
