Carly Pearce and Lee Brice will duet on her forthcoming sophomore album. The country stars' collaboration, "I Hope You're Happy Now," is due out at the end of September.

A third country star is involved in "I Hope You're Happy Now," too: Luke Combs co-wrote the track with Pearce, Jonathan Singleton and Randy Montana. According to Brice, Combs also sang on the song's demo. The track was produced by busbee.

“I am so excited to share such a personal part of my story with one of the best male vocalists in our format. Lee has the kind of gruff yet vulnerable quality to his sound that I envisioned for this duet, and [I] am grateful he agreed to join me," Pearce says in a press release. "This song is raw and real, truly something I think many people around the world will relate to.”

Brice tells The Boot that he recorded his parts of "I Hope You're Happy Now" on the road, due to his busy touring schedule over the summer. He describes the track as "kind of a twist on" the titular idea of someone, perhaps sarcastically, wishing a former friend or ex-flame well.

"It's kind of got a little bit of a throwback to '90s country -- like, it's a country song. It sounds great," Brice told The Boot and other outlets at a recent event. "It has a little hipper mix than, say, a '90s mix, but it's a county song, and i really love that about it. It's got this purity to it, and the message is just a pure country song message.

"She sang her butt off on it," he adds of Pearce.

"I Hope You're Happy Now" is due out on Sept. 27. The full details of Pearce's sophomore album have yet to be announced, but her previous single, "Closer to You," was the first track from the project.

Brice, meanwhile, is working on new music as well. He expects to release his first single from a new album in early 2020.
