Clean-up Continues at Train Derailment Site in Albert Lea (VIDEO, PHOTOS)
Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - The clean-up continues today at the site of a significant train derailment in Albert Lea.
The Albert Lea Police Departments says crews from the Union Pacific Railroad worked all night on removing debris. At last report, 8 rail cars had been cleared from the affected track.
There were about 50 cars on the train when the derailment occurred Saturday afternoon along Goose Lake on the eastern edge of Albert Lea. Officials say 28 rail cars left the tracks, which resulted in a response from a variety of agencies, including the Chemical Assessment Team from the Rochester Fire Department.
No injuries were reported, but some nearby residents were advised to "shelter in place" as a precaution. The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
