Costco CFO Richard Galanti said in-store sampling will return in June, but customers will no longer be able to grab their own. Galanti's announcement was published by Business Insider, he said: "We're going to start doing some things in mid-June on a slow rollout basis in sampling. I can't tell you any more, but it's — needless to say — not going to be where you go and just pick up an open sample with your fingers."

Handing out samples has been part of Costco's business strategy for a long time and the freebies have been know to boost sales by as much as 2,000% according to supermarketnews.com.

Meanwhile, Costco's Food Courts are still offering a limited menu and orders are only available for takeout. And, the warehouse chain is still not accepting returns on these products:

  • Toilet paper
  • Bottled water
  • Sanitizing wipes
  • Paper towels
  • Rice
  • Disinfecting spray
