The Faribault Falcon baseball team suffered a 6-1 loss at Jerry Raddatz Field in Winona today.  Four errors and some untimely walks doomed Faribault.  Both teams had three pitchers throw.  Senior right hander Blake Borwege started for the Falcons and pitched well into the fourth inning before a one out error seemed to knock him off course.

Following the error Winona’s number 8 and 9 hitters were given passes via a walk and hit batsman.  The Winhawks next two batters collected RBI singles to give them a 2-1 lead.  Senior Dillon McEachran got the last out to keep the game close.  The bottom of the fifth inning started with a Falcon error and a sacrifice bunt, then McEachran had back to back walks and hit a batter to bring in a run.

When the inning came to a close Winona scored 4 runs without a hit.

Rendler pitched in the 6th and retired the three batters following an error to start the inning.

Faribault took the lead in the top of the third inning without a hit.  Senior third baseman Dylan Vargo was hit by a pitch.  During a Austin Rendler at bat Vargo went to second on a wild pitch. Rendler crushed the ball but right to the third baseman.  Vargo had to scramble back to second.  Vargo then advanced to third base on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch.

Winona starting pitcher senior Brody Bittle was effectively wild giving up just one hit in four innings while walking four and striking out three batters.  Bittle hit Vargo twice and the Winhawks third pitcher also hit him.

Senior Austin Rendler had his seventh multi-hit game with a single and double and now has 17 hits in seven games.  Rendler also has 12 RBI so far this season.

Senior Bailey Reichert had a two out single and senior Dillon McEachran a one out single for Faribault’s other hits.
