Faribault Bell Field Improvements Continue for State Tournament
The Minnesota Baseball Association Class C and Class B Amateur Baseball Tournaments are being held in Faribault, Dundas and Miesville at the end of this summer.
Improvements continue to be made at Bell Field in Faribault with new concrete pads behind the dugouts down the first base and third base lines.
They began pouring and leveling the cement this morning.
I stopped out to snap a few photos to go along with a story about the Faribault Lakers 8-5 win over the Union Hill Bulldogs by the silo in Union Hill last night.
Designated Hitter Matt Lane clubbed a home run and added a RBI single and another single for Faribault. Danny Pierce collected two hits. Tyler Francis added a RBI double and Dylan Valentyn had a RBI.
Egan Bonde started on the mound for the Lakers going the first 6 innings with 8 hits allowed, 5 runs, 3 earned, 3 walks, 3 strikeouts while throwing 106 pitches, 70 strikes.
The box score did not list a save for Joe Grote but he pitched 3 innings allowing 3 hits and no runs. Grote struck out 5 and walked 1 batter while throwing 66 pitches, 37 strikes.
Union Hill pitchers walked 10 batters and the Bulldogs committed 5 errors in the game.
Faribault had 2 errors.
The Lakers host Montgomery Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
If you have not seen the refurbished Bell Field it would be a good opportunity to stop by and watch some great amateur baseball.
New sprinklers have been installed for the grass outside the fencing as well as in the field.
This is kind of fun to see.
