Faribault Main Street announced the winners of the annual downtown Fall Festival Chili Cook-Off which was held Saturday, October 1, 2022.

First place for the second consecutive year was Nancy Greer.  Second place went to Crooked Pint #1 Angel Chili. Third place Mother and Son duo Jennifer and Ethan Wisdo.

Best Decorations went to Nancy Green, honorable mention Mark and Kim Hedenstrom.

Main Street Coordinator Kelly Nygaard says the real winners were the attendees who were able to sample these and other delicious recipes for $5.

"This tradition is a fun way to enjoy downtown, while supporting revitalization efforts and filling up on a fall favorite food during beautiful Autumn day!"

"We are not sure who enjoys the event more, the competitors decorating their tables for the title of best decorated or the diehard chefs wanting to take home first place.  One thing is for sure, it's a good time for all!"

The event was sponsored by Shattuck St. Mary's, Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Faribault Foods, Southern Heights Dental, Faribault Woolen Mill and McDonalds Faribault.

Nelson told us the six artists who held their Studio Art Tour displays in the PCA were very pleased with the turnout making the 18th annual event a success.

The day was kicked off by a presentation by author, combat wounded Veteran Jack Zimmerman at the PCA.

Nelson says Zimmerman and his wife provided an incredible message of gratitude through having a positive attitude in the midst of challenges.

Nygaard said families enjoyed a Story Book Walk, the downtown murals, history benches and galleries at the Paradise Center for the Arts.

They are looking forward to another successful event in 2023.
