It's just not the year to have a parade in Faribault.  Faribault Heritage Days Committee members and the Faribault Police Department decided to pull the plug on this year's Faribault Heritage Days Parade.  Heavy rains fell this afternoon resulting in some street flooding.

Faribault Police Chief Andy Bohlen also told KDHL another cell is due during parade time and it mighty have lightning.  Rather than put those in the parade and watching the parade at risk they decided to call it off.

The dance in Central Park is still on.  If a decision is made to cancel that the Heritage Days Committee says they will post the information on their Facebook page.  Old Country Boys is performing.

When I spoke with a member of the Faribault Heritage Days Committee they said the band equipment was being set up on stage and they were hoping to get that in this evening.

I asked Chief Bohlen about the possibility of rescheduling the parade for next weekend.  He doubted that would happen because it takes so many volunteers to pull off the parade.

If you are looking for something to do and want to stay dry the Paradise Community Theatre is performing "A Pirate's Tale- A Swashbuckling Musical" 7:30 this evening at the Paradise Center for the Arts.  It's just the second time ever this play has been performed on stage.  The first time in the midwest.

Another performance is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon (June 16) at 2:00 p.m.  Performances are also scheduled for Thursday through Sunday next weekend.  Thursday through Saturday 7:30 p.m. and another Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m.
