The Faribault Lakers traveled to Shakopee Wednesday night and came home 9-0 victors over the Coyotes.  The win extended the Lakers winning streak to five games for a great push to end the season. They could get a first round playoff bye thanks to that push.  Faribault unleashed a 17 hit attack in their win and Matt Lane and Tyler Francis combined to allow just 3 hits by Shakopee.

Lane went the first 7 innings with 1 hit allowed, 12 strikeouts, no walks, 79 pitches, 58 strikes.  He faced just one batter over the minimum.  Francis threw the final two innings allowing 2 hits, no strikeouts or walks, 29 pitches, 22 strikes.

Faribault and Shakopee each had one error in the game.

Blake Langerud continued his torrid hitting with 3 hits and an RBI.  Langerud has played in 6 Lakers games this summer and has a batting average of .556.  15 hits in 27 at bats.

Dylan O'Neil collected two hits, 2 RBI.  Joe Grote had two doubles, 1 RBI.  Mitch Johnson had a pair of hits including a double and 3 RBI.  Dylan Valentyn punched out three hits. Mike Carpentier had a hit with 2 RBI.

Faribault finishes the regular season 14-13.  The DRS League standings has their record 13-10 in the league after tonight so they could make the top 4 and get a first round bye.  New Prague is just above them and so is Prior Lake.  The Orioles have two league games left and one of them is against the Mudcats.  If New Prague wins that game then Faribault would make the top 4 because they swept the two games with Prior Lake.

New Market has clinched the top seed in Region 3C.  St. Patrick has clinched a first round bye.  The other two first round byes are yet to be determined with the final games  this weekend.
