The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting sporadic cases of flu already in Minnesota. Through the end of last week a total of six have been hospitalized with the flu including one in southeast Minnesota. So far there has been one adult death so far this flu season. It takes around two weeks for the flu shot to kick in and this week is your opportunity to get your shots in the area.

Flu shot clinics for those 6 months and older will be offered today (October 22) from 4-7:30PM at the Blooming Prairie High School. There's also a clinic on Tuesday, October 23 from 4-7PM at the Ellendale School. The flu clinic at Roosevelt School in Owatonna will be November 3 from 9-noon.

You're advised to bring your Medicare and Supplemental Insurance Card to the clinics.

Other ways to cut down your odds of contracting the flu include washing your hands frequently and covering your cough or sneeze to avoid the spreading of germs.
