As Minnesota residents, we are lucky to have 75 state parks and recreation areas spread out all around the state. This means that almost all Minnesotans have easy access, within about a half hour, to the great outdoors. This weekend, entry is free to all 75 as part of National Get Outdoors Day!

National Get Outdoors Day is Saturday, June 10, and in addition to waiving the entry fee, many of the parks and outdoor areas also have fun activities planned. Typically, the fee to enter the state parks is $5 per vehicle, which is pretty reasonable in itself, but Saturday, you can take your pick of parks and get in free.

On Saturday, there are special hikes planned, geocaching hunts, you can fish (even without a license within most state parks), concerts, canoeing and kayaking challenges, educational programs, hikes, camping, and events designed for the whole family.

Check out the list of some of the fun activities going on Saturday, and learn more about the Minnesota State Parks at the DNR website.
