From Fishing Pools to Plants: Owatonna’s Fantastic Rip Roar’n Rummage Sale Has it All
The Rip Roar'n Rummage Sale is BACK!
The sale is Friday, June 4th from 12-7 pm and Saturday, June 5th from 9 am-1 pm at the Game and Fishing Building on the Steele County Fairgrounds (1601 S. Cedar St.).
One of the nation's oldest conservation groups, the Owatonna Izaak Walton League, sponsors the sale annually. All the profits from the sale go toward the creation and development of educational activities for area youth and leadership training for chapter members.
The event will feature items for outdoor adventures. You can find fishing and hunting gear, wildlife art, sports equipment, outdoor clothing, shop tools, landscape items like plants and trees, lawn and garden equipment, pet items, and cabin supplies.
I've reconnected with fishing this year, so I'm excited to see what kind of poles and supplies are present at this year's sale.
There will also be a refurbished 2-wheel trailer (Chevy Truck Box c. 1960), though it might go fast.
In addition, there is a children's table full of games and toys to keep the little ones happy.
This year's sale will include a silent auction. The League hopes to raise funds for conservation projects throughout the community. Revenue from the Steele County Free Fair usually funds these projects (which, of course, was canceled last year due to COVID-19).
This is Izaak Walton League's last hurrah at the Game and Fish Building, so make sure you visit them this weekend.
