It's going to be a bit around this area before you can put a fish house on a lake. But if you have a wheeled fish house, you know one of those that can double as a camper for example, you need to buy a license for it before you put it on the ice.

They were considered portable before. But to raise some more money, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources had to increase fees for hunting and fishing. Cost of the license is $16.

The new definition of portable is  to include only those that collapse, fold or are disassembled for transportation.

If you have a shelter meeting the new definition of portable only needs a license when a person leaves it unattended, meaning they are farther than 200 feet from the shelter.

A three-year license is $43. Owners of houses to be rented pay $31 annually or $88 for a three-year license.
