Triton senior Nell Graham might need a secretary to keep her day straight on Friday at the Minnesota State High School League track and field meet at Hamline University in St. Paul. Graham will run prelims in the 100-meter dash at 3:54 pm, the 400 at 5:07 pm and the 200 at 6:08 pm.

Of course, she is hoping for a busy schedule on Saturday as well when finals will be held in each of those events. Graham finished third in the 400 last year and third in the 800 in 2017.

Her qualifying time of 12.48 seconds in the 100 is the second fastest in her heat and third fastest overall. Her 400 time of 59.51 is third fastest in her heat and sixth overall. Graham's section time of 26.02 is fourth best in her heat and seventh best overall.

Cobras' coach Kim Swanson said of Graham's accomplishment, "We're super excited to see what she can do...She put herself in a great position to be very successful. I think she's got a great shot of doing very well in all three but especially the 400."

Graham will compete with North Dakota State University in track and field at college. She is not alone at state this week. Three of her teammates are competing as well.

"We had big hopes for Chloe Staub in the triple jump," said Swanson, "and she performed very well and was section champion in that event...a great way to cap off the section meet for her." The sophomore will triple jump Saturday at 3:30 pm.

"The big surprise, I guess, was Dylan Maas in the 300-meter hurdles. He was running 44's dropped to 43 300-meter hurdle times mid season. And then just ran out of his mind awesome and had a huge PR of 41.73 and won that event to qualify for state, so that was pretty emotional and exciting moment for him and his family." The senior runs his event at 5:35 pm Friday.

"Fernando (Bugarin) finished third in the 100. I told him, I know you can run state qualifying time...he had a great race, a personal best," Swanson reported. The senior has the fourth fastest time in his preliminary heat Friday at 4:05 pm.
