In case you're not familiar with Minnesota geography, Park Rapids is in the central Minnesota area. It's just east of Fargo and northwest of Brainerd. So it's not exactly a short trip for those of us in southeast Minnesota who may want to visit.

What Makes Park Rapids, MN the Most Charming Small Town?

HGTV says that Park Rapids has great shops and restaurants, you can spend the day enjoying the lake life, and it also "is a gateway to the headwaters of the Mississippi River at Itasca State Park." They also suggest grabbing caramels at Aunt Belle's Confectionary while in town (that sounds delicious).

What is There to Do in Park Rapids, MN?

There seems to be lots to do in Park Rapids! On top of spending time at the lake, going to local shops and restaurants, and stopping by Itasca State Park, there are also plenty of trails to check out. Or if you want to rent a bike or a jet ski that's an option too! There are all sorts of activities you can do any time of year, from swimming in the lake in the summertime to skating in the winter.
