You've been going to the dermatologist for two years, and finally have your acne under control. Now, you have to wear a mask to work everyday and your acne is back. Now what? How do you treat this new problem and why is it happening?

AVOID MAKE UP

Seriously. If you have to wear a mask all day long, who is going to see your face anyway? Have you ever tried to wear make up to an outdoor event? Fishing? Ball game? We all know that make up and sweat are a bad combination...so save your make up for a day that matters, and your pores will thank you.

KEEP YOUR MASK CLEAN

I probably didn't need to tell you that a clean mask is better than a dirty one, right? But what I'm talking about is; if your make up is on your mask, oil from your skin and sweat are pretty much unavoidable and will end up underneath your mask. Best to make sure you have a mask that is washable and rotate a few through the wash, or carry disposable masks if your skin is super sensitive. You may also want to make sure your skin can handle the materials that your mask is made from.

USE A LIGHT MOISTURIZER

I didn't realize that masks can actually dry out your skin, so using a light moisturizer that won't clog up your pores is going to be important.

FINDING THE RIGHT MASK

If you have exceptionally oily skin, experts say that cotton masks are best. Otherwise, finding a material that is soft on the skin, that fits tight but is still comfortable to wear will be important. We might have to wear these things for a long time, so find what works for you, be comfortable, and be safe.
