How To Make Minnesota’s Favorite Christmas Treat
'Tis the season for sweet treats and you'll see a variety of offerings at holiday get-togethers over the next two weeks like candy canes, eggnog, fudge, and candied pecans. But which one should you serve at your holiday party here in Minnesota?
Last year, Zippia released a state-by-state guide to holiday treats. They found that cake is the most popular Christmas goodie in 20 states, but here in the Land of 10,000 lakes, we love cookies. Read about Minnesota's favorite Christmas treat and find out how to make it below.
Zippia used Google Trends data to determine each state's favorite holiday treat. In Minnesota, the number 1 holiday sweet was the Peppermint Kiss Cookie. They are also known as Candy Cane Blossoms and look like the cookies above expect peppermint kisses are used. Allrecipes.com has instructions on how to make these cookies.
Speaking of Christmas cookies, the Old School Cafe in Mantorville has a special project that you can do with your kids. They have DIY Cookie Kits and say, "We are now accepting orders for December DIY Cookie Kits! Linda is putting together a festive package that the whole family will enjoy this holiday season! We ask that you have orders in by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22nd, and pickup arrangements can be made through December 23rd."
