Hy-Vee will soon be handing out masks to any shopper that doesn't have one. The grocery chain plans to distribute more than 3 million free masks starting on July 27th. Employees will be outside of the store to hand out the masks.

The state of Minnesota will also be handing out masks after Governor Walz issued a statewide mask order on Wednesday afternoon. Walz said the simple acts of wearing a mask, washing your hands, and maintaining safe social distancing are the best and most cost-effective ways to end the COVID-19 pandemic. The mask mandate starts Saturday and violators could face a fine up to $100 dollars. Walz said 4 million disposal masks are being distributed to Minnesota law enforcement officers so they can offer them to anyone without a mask.
