DNR EagleCam Captures Nesting Eagles In A Heartwarming Display
There’s something quietly powerful happening on the Minnesota DNR EagleCam right now, and if you’ve been checking in lately, you may have felt it too.
The camera is once again capturing a bonded pair of bald eagles working together in the nest.
WATCHING THE MINNESOTA DNR EAGLECAM
I sat and watched the EagleCam for about an hour today, and I watched as they flew in and out of the nest, bringing in sticks, adjusting the bowl of the nest, and moving with the kind of purpose that makes viewers lean a little closer to the screen. It’s the kind of teamwork that sparks a simple but exciting question many Minnesotans are asking right now: could eggs be coming soon?

NEST PREPARATION FOR WHATS TO COME
While nothing is guaranteed in nature, these behaviors are exactly what we all hope to see this time of year. Nest preparation and cooperation between a mated pair apparently is a strong sign that the eagles are settling in and preparing for the next stage of the season. If all goes well, that could mean eggs in the nest in the weeks ahead and our front-row seat to watch it all happen.
The Minnesota DNR EagleCam is operated by the Minnesota Nongame Wildlife Program, whose mission is to ensure a future for the state’s at-risk wildlife while engaging Minnesotans through education and outreach. What began as a simple wildlife camera has grown into one of the program’s most powerful tools, connecting people to nature in real time.

ENJOYING THE EAGLECAM ACROSS MINNESOTA
For many, the EagleCam has become part of their daily routine. Teachers stream it into classrooms, giving students a live look at wildlife behavior they might never otherwise witness. Families check in together after dinner. Retirees keep the stream on in the background, watching quietly as the seasons unfold. Over time, we are all getting involved with the eagles, even though they don't have any idea we are watching.
KEEP THE MINNESOTA DNR EAGLECAM RUNNING
Donations to the Minnesota Nongame Wildlife Program help keep the camera running and support conservation work for Minnesota’s rare and vulnerable wildlife.
Minnesota residents also have a unique way to support the EagleCam by donating a portion of their state tax return to the Nongame Wildlife Fund. It’s a simple option that directly supports the wildlife so many of us care about.
WHAT'S NEXT?
As we watch this eagle pair continue their careful preparations, I'm getting excited to see what will happen this year. Maybe eggs are just around the corner. Maybe there will be chicks to watch grow, stretch their wings, and eventually take their first flights. Or maybe this season will simply remind us how much dedication and resilience it takes to survive through our ever-changing Minnesota weather.
