What’s Going On With JJ McCarthy Ahead Of The Vikings London Game?
There was some talk about JJ McCarthy getting out on the field in London today for practice. The sophomore QB from Michigan has been sidelined since week 2 after suffering an ankle injury against the Falcons. McCarthy, unfortunately, didn't see the field today, making some fans wonder what's going on with the young QB's injury situation.
Injured His Ankle In Week 2 Home Opener
JJ McCarthy was said to have injured his ankle in the home-opener loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The young QB suffered what was described as a high ankle sprain in his right ankle. The injury was expected to sideline McCarthy for the next 2 to 4 weeks, putting his path to return after the week 6 bye, and when the Vikings return from London.
Traveled To Europe With The Team, Still Not Practicing
JJ traveled with the team to Ireland last week and to London this week, and it was rumored that he was going to practice with the team for the first time since his ankle injury in week 2. However, it seems the weather wasn't going to allow that to happen, according to an online tweet.

Some fans, however, are wondering aloud what's really going on with the sudden change to the young QB's practice schedule. Many fans feel getting reps, even as a QB3 due to the injury, could only benefit the unseasoned QB.
Whatever the reason was for holding him out of practice, that will likely stay between the head coach, training staff, and McCarthy.
Could we see former Golden Gopher Max Brosmer under center if things get ugly in London?
The Vikings are set to roll the dice again with veteran QB and NDSU product Carson Wentz for the third week. Wentz has gone 1-1 as a starter for the purple, but after an awful showing last week against the Steelers, one has to wonder if the leash on Wentz will be shorter against the Browns and their rookie QB.
The best-case scenario for the Vikings is a blowout win, and getting out of the game healthy after a rash of injuries has depleted the offensive line and some key defensive positions.
