MSP One of the Major Airports That Will Have Cancelled Flights
If you planned on going somewhere that requires a flight, make sure you check your flight status.
Beginning tomorrow (Friday) The FAA will be cancelling some flights throughout major airports around the country, and Minneapolis/St. Paul airport is one of those major airports where this will be happening.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING
Due to the Government shutdown that is now the longest in history, there are several air traffic control workers and TSA workers that are calling out from work. They are taking on side jobs and other ways to make ends meet during this time when they are not being paid. The employees that are showing up to work are working without pay and are also getting very fatigued because they are having to do more work, and working more hours than before. And on top of that, not being able to bring home a paycheck.
From Bring Me the News:
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is one of 40 airports across the U.S. that will have its flight capacity reduced by the Federal Aviation Administration due to the federal government shutdown. FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the restrictions will go into effect Friday morning, and when full implemented will result in a 10% reduction in capacity.
INCONVENIENT BUT SAFER
Even though this wisll be incredibly inconvenient, you can hardly blame them for taking on some other side jobs in order to make ends meet. No one knows how long this shutdown will continue, and even though they will be getting their back-pay (hopefully) they still have to feed their families and pay other regular bills.
Plus, the cancellation of some of the flights is because of a safety issue. If there are not enough TSA and Air Traffic Control employees, that can cause a safety issue. No one wants that either.
The beat goes on.
