Mendota Heights (KROC-AM News) - For the second time since the start of the Labor Day holiday travel period, authorities in Dakota County have responded to a fatal crash.

The State Patrol says a Mendota Heights man suffered fatal injuries after the SUV he was driving left the roadway, rolled, and crashed into a light pole. 44-year-old Edward Taddiken was transported to Regions Hospital where he died from his injuries.

His passenger, 32-year-old Ryan Rainaldo of Minneapolis, escaped the crash without any significant injuries.

The deadly incident was reported just before 3:45 PM on Saturday Highway 149 at the intersection with Bachelor Avenue in Mendota Heights.

The other traffic fatality in Dakota County was reported around 6:15 Friday evening on Highway 55 just west of Hastings. 47-year-old Brian Bigalke of Hastings was killed in the head-on collision.
