Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A motorist accused of fleeing a traffic stop was arrested after crashing in Rochester over the weekend.

Authorities say the incident began around 2:20 Sunday morning and ended when the suspect was captured following a brief foot chase. 

The suspect, who is from South Dakota, was suspected of driving impaired.

South Dakota Man Suspected of Fleeing State Trooper in Rochester Arrested After Crashing

State Patrol Sgt. Troy Christianson said a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for speed and its driving conduct in Rochester. 

The trooper initiated a short pursuit that was quickly discontinued, Christianson said.

Around 2:45 a.m. the Rochester Police Department responded to the report of a crash in the 500 block of 4th St. Southwest. 

The suspect vehicle had struck an unoccupied vehicle and flipped, according to Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson.

Responding officers found the driver attempting to flee the crash scene on foot. Grayson says officers arrested the man after a short foot pursuit. He has been identified as 31-year-old Justin Hudson of Sioux Falls.

Grayson says Hudson was arrested on suspicion of felony and misdemeanor fleeing and third-degree DWI. His first court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
