
12-Year-Old Severely Injured in North Mankato House Fire Has Died
North Mankato, MN (MinnesotaNow)- The young girl who suffered serious injuries when her home caught on fire late last week has died.

That’s according to a news release issued on Monday by the North Mankato Fire Department. A total of six people were inside of the home when the fire started.
The child and her mother were airlifted to the burn unit at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis on Friday.

12-Year-Old Girl Injured in North Mankato House Fire Has Died, Mother Released from Hospital
The now fatal fire broke out around 5:30 Friday morning at 524 Lyndale Ave.
North Mankato police officers were the first emergency responders to arrive at the scene. They reported seeing heavy flames and smoke coming from the second story of the house, officials said.
Police then assisted in evacuating four of the home’s occupants without any injuries. Firefighters arrived, rushed into the burning home and retrieved the child and her mother, according to a previous news release.
The 41-year-old mother and her 12-year-old daughter were brought to the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Mankato before being flown to the Twin Cities. The previous news release indicated they suffered severe burns.

On Monday officials announced the child passed away from her injuries. She has been identified as Autumn R. Paulson.
Officials also identified Paulson’s mother as 41-year-old Stefanie Scharbach and say she has been released after being treated for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, however preliminary information indicates the fire was accidental, the news release says.
The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office, the North Mankato Fire Department, and the North Mankato Police Department are continuing to investigate the fatal fire.
