Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Mourns Passing of Decorated K9
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the passing of a veteran K9.
A news release issued by the sheriff’s office said he passed away Friday morning in the company of handler, Deputy Adam Waletzki and others.
K9 Cobra served Olmsted County for nearly a decade. He was a highly decorated K9, winning numerous awards at National, State, and Regional K9 trials.
The news release says Cobra, who’s badge number is 2027, saw his medical condition deteriorate due to cancer that was recently discovered.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says there was no other option other than putting Cobra down to save him from further pain and suffering.
Along with his numerous awards, Cobra gained a reputation for his courage and successful patrol work, the news release says.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is expressing its condolences to Cobra’s family.
