Rochester Man Caught Passing Meth in Olmsted County Jail
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been charged with smuggling methamphetamine into the Olmsted County jail.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Friday, 43-year-old Deangelo Martez Rucker faces a gross misdemeanor charge of introducing contraband into a jail. The court document alleges the incident occurred on July 21.
The charge says Rucker was a detainee in the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center at the time, and staff members witnessed him giving another detainee a small bag containing a crystal-like substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine. After the handover, the complaint says a detention deputy called the other man over, and the detainee surrendered the baggie.

The court document says a review of surveillance video shows Rucker walking around the jail gym and approaching multiple detainees with something in his hand. He is then seen handing something to the detainee who turned over the drugs to the jail staff.
The alleged smuggling incident occurred on the same day Rucker was formally charged with stealing a pair of machetes from a man during an alleged robbery at a business along 4th Street Southeast in Rochester. The criminal complaint in that case indicates the crime was captured on a surveillance camera video, which was used to identify Rucker and 51-year-old Elbert Lucky Williams as the alleged robbers.
