Second Man Charged in Rochester Apartment Shooting
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A second person has been charged in connection with a recent shooting outside a northwest Rochester apartment complex.
The criminal complaint was filed Friday in Olmsted County Court against 22-year-old Curtis Lamond Caradine, charging the Rochester man with first-degree aggravated robbery. The court document alleges that he coordinated a drug deal that led to shots being fired on the afternoon of June 17 at the Gates Apartments along 41st Street Northwest.

According to the criminal complaint, Caradine met with 22-year-old Katavion Lamar Leggins inside a vehicle at the apartment complex for a drug transaction. It is alleged that Caradine brandished a handgun and grabbed Leggins' backpack while ordering him out of the vehicle.
According to the charges filed against Leggins in late June, security camera footage from the scene showed him entering the vehicle and then exiting a few minutes later before trying to reach back inside. The video then showed the vehicle speeding away and dragging Leggins.
While he was being dragged, an object could be seen falling from his waistband. It was later determined to be a handgun, and the video showed Leggins running to pick it up and firing shots at the vehicle. The complaint says Leggins admitted to investigators that he was the person seen in the video firing the gun.
No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire.
Leggins is charged with felony counts of second-degree assault and reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality, along with gross misdemeanor possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. His complaint states that he was on probation at the time for a third-degree burglary conviction.
